If your salary exceeded £100,000 in the 2022/23 tax year, or if HM Revenue & Customs has specifically asked you to file, you must submit a tax return.
For the 2023/24 tax year, this threshold increases to £150,000.
When your income nears £100,000, your Income Tax liability changes and your Personal Allowance begins to reduce. Understanding these changes helps you plan and avoid unexpected tax bills.
Once your income goes over £100,000, your Personal Allowance decreases by £1 for every £2 earned above this threshold. This can effectively push part of your income into a 60% tax rate.
The good news: careful tax planning can help reduce the impact and keep more of your earnings.
For the 2023/24 tax year, PAYE employees earning under £150,000 generally don’t need to file a tax return.
However, if you have additional income, capital gains, or other taxable sources, you may still be required to submit a return to HM Revenue & Customs.
The one-off fee covers the complete preparation and submission of your Self Assessment by a qualified accountant, including VAT.
Any additional work outside the standard filing process will be communicated upfront before extra charges apply.
Our Accuracy Guarantee protects you against errors made by our accountants while preparing your tax return. If a mistake occurs due to our work, we’ll correct it, resubmit your return, and refund your fee.
It does not cover penalties or issues caused by incorrect, incomplete, or missing information provided by you. Full details are available in our terms and conditions.
